Access to finance is a key constraint to SME growth which face the greatest hurdles in accessing financing. About half of formal SMEs don’t have the access to formal credits.
Globally, over half of trade finance requests by SMEs are rejected, against just 7% for multinational companies.
SMEs have an unmet financing need of $5.2 trillion, which is equivalent to 1.4 times the current level of the global SMEs lending
According to the latest figures, the trade finance gap has increased by 15% to US$2.5tn and SMEs are the hardest hit.
